lisu Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hi all, My apologies if this seems like another daft question! We're applying for my Wife's UK Settlement/Family visa in the next couple of weeks - obviously our children will be going with us to the UK. Do we need to add their names on her visa application as accompanying children? Both of them are British citizens, and therefore do not need UK visas. The reason I ask, is that my daughter's UK passport has expired, and I need to apply for a new one (a whole new headache process since the changes a couple of months ago!). From what I recall when we got my Wife's UK tourist visa a couple of years ago, we added our children's names to her application, along with their UK passport numbers. I'm now worried that adding their names to her visa application is mandatory, and, if so, will cause a huge delay in our application while waiting for my daughter's new UK passport! So, do we need to add their names, or can they be omitted from my Wife's application, since they will be travelling without a visa? Will omitting their names be an issue, or will adding their names help? Thanks for any information once again!
7by7 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 The form asks about children so she must include them, especially as they were on her last application. As they are British, obviously there is no need for them to also apply for visas and the financial requirement for children wont apply. That your daughter is awaiting her new passport should not cause any delay in your wife's visa application; if concerned simply say in your sponsor's letter that you are awaiting her new British passport. Considering the mess UK passport applications are in at the moment, both in UK and abroad, I think there is a strong possibility that your wife will receive her visa before your daughter receives her passport!
lisu Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks so much for the reply! That's settled my mind. I seem to have so many silly questions. Yes, the passport situation is infuriating. The fact that I'll have to take my daughter out of school for 3 days to travel to BKK for her to apply in person is absurd - especially when it was previously a 10 minute visit to the Consulate in Chiang Mai, without her presence being required. Anyway... that's a whole other rant in the waiting. Thanks again.
