Surin to Koh Chang

Featured Replies

Anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost to do this trip by taxi?

I'm trying to work out whether this is a cheaper and easier option than heading to BKK and then flying down to Trat with my family.

Thanks in advance.

Why taxi? You may be better placed hiring a minibus (like the Chon Chom losers use( Casino))

Alternative could be Bus from Surin to Pattaya, then another Bus or Minibus from Pattaya to Koh Chang

For the Bus from Surin I would choose Nakornchai Air Bus VIP

Pattaya -> Koh Chang Minibus for example : http://35grouptour.com/

Taxi, wild guess 3-4k one way ?

That's a good idea, didn't think of that, just hire a car with a driver for the day.

Anyone have a contact number for a reliable firm?

Yep, I did consider the bus, but in truth, I would much rather spend a bit more for an easier journey. If I was on my own, then I would take the bus, but I will have young children with me, and want the quickest, easiest option.

Understood, and have you thought about the way back home?

Not 100% sure on the way back yet, as I might need a couple of days in BKK, I'm sure there are plenty of minibus services doing a Koh Chang to BKK run.

Or taxi drivers willing to take you back to Surin ;)

Yep, this time of year I am sure there will be plenty of options.

Go to the exercise park opposite to the Surin Army base and there are always a few minibus drivers resting there and ask.

Better still, I'll send the Mrs :)

Sorry, but isn't it a real bad time to go to Ko Chang? Rainy season and beach doesn't really fit. Hope you thought about that too.

Up to the age of the kids, you may consider to pass Wat Angkor in Cambodia. From Surin through Chom Choeng/O'Smach border, Taxi to Siem Raep, to Trat/Hat Lek, to Koh Chang. Make the trip a holiday and sight seeing trip. Just a thought...

I'm hoping I luck into a few decent days, don't care if it does the usual raining in the evening thing.
