Dash Camera Fitting in Phuket?

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a dash camera fitted? Front and rear?

If there's someone you know of in Phuket who does a really neat job, I'd be interested to hear about it.

I'm not interested in wires dangling down and connected to my cigarette lighter.

I think a number of us would appreciate knowing the outcome - quality of work, cost, and the type of equipment you're using - when you get the work completed. I'm coming to the view that this type of equipment could be very handy in the event of an accident.

I bought a couple of dash cameras from Lazada.com for small money, under 1,000 baht each. Note memory card extra. Been using for almost a year, but still of the hanging wire self installation. They work well, a good method to help prove an accident situation. Interesting to look at my wife's driving style in her car.

I have recently had a dash cam, including rear cam fitted at Hongkee

coming from Tesco lotus on the bypass road turn left at Central and go

straight through the next set of lights heading onto Phuket town and

Hongkee is on the left just before the next set of lights.

The boss there is a girl called Kai and speaks good english and you can

call her on 0818955318.

They have a selection of dash cams there and whatever price you can

negotiate includes fitting to your required spec.

I am very satisfied with my camera, and would recommend Hongkee for

at least a look.

I paid 4,000 Baht for mine maybe you can do better/

Good luck. thumbsup.gif

Just a small point to remember and check when fitting a dash cam and not using the cigarette/accessory socket.

Do not cut off the plug on the camera and wire it that way. The plug that comes with the dash cam reduces the voltage to 5v so it's important to keep it. thumbsup.gif

Good advice, cheers for that.

Sorry folks, just re-read my post and realised my mistake.

After turning left at Central you need to pass through 2 sets of lights

before looking for Hongkee on the left about 100 yards before the

next lights, my apologies if anyone has been out searching and

got lost because of me. sad.pngwai.gif

Also for interest my rear camera is powered through my front camera

so only single power source required.

for info website for Hongkee www.hongkeeautosound.com.

Thanks for all the info.

I'll call into the two installers that have been mentioned, maybe tomorrow. And thank you Daffy D for the tip about the voltage.

Can I ask you, phuketjock, if yours was fitted neatly with no wires showing?

As I said I think it is fitted quite neatly and obviously there has to be some wire showing.

Only wires showing are from the headliner to the cameras back and front and

from the front lower dash to the aux power supply, which like DD i have in addition

to the cigarrete lighter, PM me if you would like to come and see it, I live in Patong.

Cheers
