I have been diagnosed with Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome. I have read up on it and believe that the suggested cure (cardiac ablation) is correct, after all he is the expert. One thing I find slightly odd though is the cost which is circa 340,000 ฿ for what appears to be a 2-3 hour procedure.

Can anyone comment on the cost, I will not mention which hospital as this isn't a name and shame thread, just a general enquiry.

Thanks in advance

The duaration of a procedure is hardly the basis for its cost.

This is a complex, highly specialized procedure requiring advanced training (above and beyond specialization in cardiology), specialized equipment and the services of a fully staffed and equipped cardiac catheterization lab.

The rate you were quoted sounds about right for a private for-profit hospital. It would be less at a government hospital, probably about 1/3.

It might also be a little less (maybe 25% less) at the new private wing of Siriraj Hospital, and Siriraj is also the place with the most experience in this and where the top specialists in it practice. I suggest you check the price with them and request Prof. Rungroj Krittayaphong, M.D as your doctor. http://www.siphhospital.com/en/index.html call center 1474

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I have checked my surgeons credentials and he did work in this field in USA/Australia and Japan so am happy to use his services due to my location in Pattaya. Now just a matter of seeing if BUPA (Thailand) class it as a pre existing condition as it is congenital.
