From what I understand of the US university market it's extremely difficult finding tenured positions so alot of very capable lecturers are struggling in part time positions. A decent new IT oriented university in Thailand may attract a few.

You may be referencing to the majority but it's usually the minority of excellent students that go on to great things, otherwise the world would be full of Einstein's!
