I have my work permit from the L office. My non immig B visa expires in a few months. I was stamped a single entry 3 month B when crossing the border a month ago from Laos.

The boss is saying that I should go to immigration this week to get the year visa.

Questions :

1. Is there any advantage in waiting to the last day of the expiry (i.e. in 2 months) to go to Immigration. That way the years visa will be from Sept this year until sept next year…… Or do I have this all wrong? Is it from the expiry date of the WP?

2. Are there any documentation requirements for this visit to the Immigration? Do I take photos? Is there any need for them to see originals of qualifications etc. Im assuming not as this was all supplied when applying for the WP. They are surely not going to have to see my CV or anything like that are they?

3. Its my first teaching job in LOS at a uni and obviously its my first WP as proven by my daft questions above. Do I need to apply for a teachers licence?

thanks

It does not matter when you go to immigration to the one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) will start from your permuted to stay date.

At most immigration offices 30 days (45 at some) is the earliest you can apply for the extension.

You will need several documents supplied by the school and the Ministry of Education to get the extension. The school will know what is required.

You will need one 4cm X 6cm photo to attach to the TM7 application form.
