Kalasin police arrest a man responsible for selling fraudulent health products

KALASIN, 17 July 2014 (NNT) - Kalasin provincial police along with security forces and Public Health officials have busted a smuggling ring responsible for distributing fake health products. Authorities have found several products that do not have proper labels issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

36-year-old Sunthorn Patburom has been detained by the police after several of his customers lodged complaints saying he was selling health products that have not been approved by the FDA.

Mr. Sunthorn had also advertised at least 50 brands of fake health products by providing misleading claims and distorted information about their true health benefits. Among the products that he advertised were diet coffee, diet pills, cosmetics, and beauty products, which were all valued at 2 million baht.

Investigations reveal that the supplements and cosmetics he was selling have dangerous side-effects, especially skin-whitening creams and diet pills. Police have confiscated all the products so that they could be tested, after which charges would be pressed against him. Mr. Sunthorn was found guilty of smuggling fraudulent health products and for selling these products without a label approved by the FDA.

The FDA are a bunch of idiots themselves anyway. I am not surprised that many people attempt to circumvent them.

Even though in this case they seem to have a value, but for a lot of other products they are just money grabbing bureaucrats.

Trust me... I have experience with them. They refused to even recognise FDA approval on an FDA approved product.

That is how stupid they are.
