Pig carcasses ceased

BANGKOK: -- The Customs Department Thursday announced the seizure of 400 frozen pig carcasses worth Bt400,000 from two warehouses in Nonthaburi and Bangkok.

The full carcasses were reportedly smuggled into Thailand from Vietnam through Mekong River border provinces Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom and Amnat Charoen and were not properly declared or taxed.

An investigation found that this type of carcass, which cost between Bt800-Bt1,000 each, was used to make an expensive dish called Moo Han - whole roasted pig that cost between Bt1,500 and Bt2,000.
