Route to extension to stay.

Can some of you helpful folks advise please?

UK..56years old. no pension until 60. Already have a bank acc. in Thailand. Have funds (THB800,000) to transfer.

So I am finally going to bite the bullet and make the move to Thailand.

Was looking at the Non-O (not O-A) on the Thai Embassy page. Is this the visa to go for?

Would I be better to go the tourist visa route?

Should I get a single, double or triple entry and change once in Thailand?

Does it make any difference if any which of the above I get?

Thank you for any helpful information.

P.S. I have a lot more questions on making the move, but these are probably better in a different forum/thread

Entirely up to you.

A Non O-A Visa (multi entry) obtained from the Embassy in London would give you a stay of 2 years providing you did a border run just before the Visa expires.

You would need the money in a UK bank plus Police Report and Medical Certificate.

You could also get a single Non Imm O Visa from UK without any of the above and apply for a 12 month extension in Thailand.

800,000 Baht in a Thai bank needed to apply for the extension. Police Report and Medical not required.

Whatever suits you best.

It is up to you whether you apply for the OA visa at the embassy or get the extension here.

You could try to get a single entry non-o at one of the consulates which would make things easier to get an extension of stay here, The embassy will not do a non-o visa for being 50 or over,

You could also get a single entry tourist visa and do a change of visa status to get a 90 day non immigrant visa entry. You would need the 800k baht in the bank when you apply.

You can do it any time during your 60 day entry up to the last 15 days.

During the last 30 day of the either of the 90 day entries you could apply for the extension. The 800k baht will need to be in the bank for 60 days when you apply.
