The last time I hired a car was about 2 years ago...I got it from Holiday Rent-A-Car - www.pattayacar -rent.com - . They are on the top end of 3rd road. they're run by an English guy, and have insurance. I made a small dent in the vvehicle and that was no problem. the cars all seem recent. I got a 4wd pickup.

There are many car rental place over pattaya. I use the same one all the time. If you want the number let me know. Prices is like for a honda jazz, 1000B a day. They are good on fuel and his insurance covers you all over thailand. The main thing is dont go to any old guy (thai/foreigner). Look around at the prices and dont be afraid to bargin on the price as it will be for 2 days or more. Check the car out right, even the drive.

All the best for your travelled to the sticks

Hi

I will be travelling to Pattaya in October, 06 with my wife and my six months old son. As I do not want to risk getting hurt could you please advise me whether to take a car or a mcycle on rent. I have also visited pattaya in the past and took a mcycle on rent, but the vendor took my passport as a security deposit and did not ask for any cash deposit. Is this the normal norm or they accept only cash as I am a little afraid to leave my passport. Thirdly as my travel is going to be local (within Pattaya) is a mcycle advisable or should I go ahead with a car?

Also do let me know whether one gets those mcycles on rent that have a side car attached to itself. I think that would be a litrtle sdafer that the normal mcycle.

please do let me know
