Reccommendations for tablet computers please.

Will be in BangKok later this week for a day. I see lots in the shopping malls here in Chiang Mai from 4k, didn't even bother to look at as I'm quite fussy when it comes to gadgets.
Looking for min 8in screen, HD or fhd for the larger ones. Good speed processor dual or quad.

Know about new Nexus and keen on it but where can you get that here matching UK Amazon prices? Tired in Chiang Mai and nobody has them.

I know there are some quality Chinese tablets but wouldn't know where to get one in Bangkok?

Thanks

Nexus products are unfortunately officially not available in Thailand. Some months ago, I saw low-spec Nexus 7 in a Tesco Lotus for sale. I assume, this was an exception.

I wouldn't recommend Chinese tablets. They are «cheap» in every way. Look for top brands like Samsung or Sony, when you really want to enjoy your tablet. But don't expect a bargain.

Banana IT offers 7-8" tablets from Acer and Lenovo starting at THB 6,000, but I don't know these products. A Samsung Galaxy Tab4 8" is mentioned with THB 11,500 - not fare away from a iPad Mini Retina (THB 13,400)...

Looked at the Sam Note 8 on the Banana IT site and seems overpriced to me at nearly 13k bht.

I think you'll find Chinese smartphones etc are now nearly on par with Samsung, Apple, Sony. Have you actually tried any top end Chinese makes?? I have and was impressed, yes they have a little bit to go but the gap is practically bridged. Same goes for HiFi components, accessories. Do a search on HeadFi for chinese headphones / earphones and you will be surprised.

You must remember that the factories that are contracted out by Apple, Motorola, Lenovo etc are IN China so the manufacturing technology / experience is already there.

I know I could get a Chinese tablet I would be happy with I just don't have the time to research it now.

Although more expensive, the ipad is the way to go. An elegant operating system and the best apps. I see 16 gb at 10k now. I would stay away from Chinese stuff. I've got a couple around the house that are kaput.

Love my 64 gb mini-ipad. I use it for so many things.
