BANGKOK, 30 July 2014 (NNT) - Press members from the Bureau of Radio, Film and Television of Guangxi Zhuang, China, have visited Khon Kaen to learn about the province’s renowned Indian Eri silkmoth farming and help promote the way of life of local Thai farmers.

Head of the Indian Eri silkmoth research group of Khon Kaen University Assoc.Prof.Siwilai Sirimangkhlarat recently led the Guangxi press members to the Ban Dong village in Khon Kaen to observe Indian Eri silkmoth farming for the production of silk. The press members were also invited to taste food made of the silkmoth.

The press members showed a lot of interest in the Indian Eri silkmoth farming, saying that it would become the insect with economic value for Thailand. They later traveled to the silk community learning center in Mancha Khiri district, Khon Kaen, another place famous for Indian Eri silkmoth farming.

The press members from Guangxi are visiting Khon Kaen and Chon Buri provinces in Thailand from 27 July – 2 August 2014. The trip is a good opportunity for them to learn about Thai art and culture, visit important tourist sites as well as observe the traditional way of life of the local people.
