Wave 2011 brake judder ?

Featured Replies

Hey guy's

I have a 2011 wave 110i, 15,000 on the clock and running fine.

Apart from lately there is a juddering in the front brake when stopping.
i have taken out the pad's which are fine, cleaned them and the disc
which is also fine.

The front shocks also seem very soft, could this be it ?
can the shock's be overhauled or do i have to buy new ?

as usual, all positive post are greatly appreciated.smile.png

Regards

Charlie

Not sure if they are the original pads and rotor but 15km is a long time for your front brakes.

When I replaced my brake pads on my scooter at 8000km I decided not to change the rotor because it looked fine. The braking had a bad pulsing for 1000km until the pads broke into the old rotor.

Yes you should be able to rebuild shocks. They replace the fluid and add new seals. If the fork stanchions are scratched up they should be replaced. It's the gradual loss of oil that allows air to fill the shock and get mushy.

Could also be the head race  ( steering bearings) loose or worn.

in this case i should feel the steering move slightly, but its tight..

its worth a look all the same.

cheers

i bought this bike used with 10,000 km on it.

the rotor disk is still in perfect, no pit's or grove's.

I will get a set of pads for her and see what happens.

I reckon its time for a shock rebuild, not sure whats involved.

will have a look on youtu-e to see whats what.

cheers

Air in the brake lines?  Is the shake steady or a left-to-right movement?    Is the front brake disk or drum?  Discs can warp from heating due to riding the breaks...

could well be air in the brake lines.

its a steady sudder just before stopping..from 15-0 kph

shock rebuild is cheap. insist on new springs and a proper oil. also let them check the alignment of the fork.

also just change the pads. at 10 k km, i dont think so it is rotors but of course depends on the background of the bike.

If the brakes (brake lever) doesnt "pulse" in time with the wheel rotation - warped disc - , then id susspect pad and or disc contamination. Can you / did you clean with brake cleaner.

If you are going to buy new pads, just buy a new rotor.

I think it would be a cheap way to rule out the rotor being the culprit.

Otherwise you might have the same pulsing feeling I had when I only replaced the pads.
