This seems to be getting worse all the time now, I am being asked often now to "set up" various females with falangs... for example the other day, I was pestered at length by a man  who was drinking beer at the table next to me at a mom and pop shop to "find his daughter a falang to marry"

, I told him point blank that it is not my job to find  men for woman, I am not a matchmaker most of all because I don't want to bear the responsibility if something bad happens in the relationship.....

This has happened to me once in a while in the past, but for some reason in the last 6 months the requests have been coming in all the time,

does anyone else here ever have this happen to them and are the people half joking or do you think they are somewhat serious?

Maybe only once a month. Mostly mothers looking for husbands for their daughters, a few women looking for one for themselves. When I was in the hospital, a couple of nurses asked. I also just stay out of it

A scenario that pops up on a regular basis. I tell them I do not know any foreign people who are retired, single and living in Thailand. Oddly enough it always seemed to happen in northern Thailand (by northern, I mean from BKK upwards).

In the last 6 months...Thai household debt has gone through the roof (i.e.need money quickly).....could that be anything to do with it?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with it.

Judging from TVF, farangs are so gentle, kind hearted people.

Never hurt anybody, never say a bad word for anyone else.

Treat their ladies like royalty and do all the housework and cleaning.

How can you resist gems like that?

Money comes second..............

This happens regularly but mostly with my wife's friends. I do the same as everyone else. Kindly bow out.....

OP, Smurkster ... they simply ask you because you are a very hunsum man.

Personally, I never get asked ... maybe that is because I possess a face only a Mother could love ...  crying.gif

Great business opportunity. You can change your friends for hooking them up. And then charge the family 50% of the sinsod

I ask them in a joking way "Yes, for 100k THB I could start looking for". And then they stop annoying.

I tell them 400k, that's my cut of the sin sot.

Thongkorn I'm thinking you will be getting lots of "friend requests" after that post.

Sorry im thinking of another less known social network site.

Thai men are some wonderfully hard working, sober, loyal and smart. Why would any TG want useless farang over god's gift to women?

Suggest that they should talk to your wife instead, since she's the one who managed to find a hansum rich farang husban, all you did was follow orders ! rolleyes.gif

And then express your willingness to accept your commission as a percentage of the sin-sod ?

This happens every time one of my girlfriend's friends goes through a bad breakup (often). They also go through my facebook friends and try to ad anyone they like the look of. My friends from back home keep asking me why they get 'friend' requests from random Thai people.

Will you people wake up.   Its the money.   Not a coincidence many comfort girls come from up north.

Best advice is to tell them have the girl get on the next bus to pattaya-seems a lot happens there!

My wife was a matchmaker, the money was quite good. However the number of times unpleasant things happened eventually stopped her. We still get stopped at least once a week by 'ladies' who want a Farang (meaning money). They always eye me up. So many stories. Scottish guy comes knocking at the door late with no where to stay, the Thai husband had returned unexpectedly. Many with a Thai husband in the background. Most know all the best hotels in Pattaya, Phuket and all the islands as well as their home town. My wife tried proposing that they learn English from me first and then she would try. This means at least two months of study and they aren't ready to do that. She no longer wishes to chat with Farangs on Thai love links pretending to be the girl in question.

A friend once observed a Chinese lady accompanied by a gaggle of 'ladies' waiting for a herd of Germans at the local airport. She collected what she though must have been ฿20 000.- from each non-Thai speaking German, got them into taxis and disappeared. You really need to have a heart of ice to do stuff like that, you are flirting with illegality and are basically telling lies (withholding the truth).

I could also tell the stories about these ladies only having the vaguest idea concerning STDs, my wife was expected to take them to the clinic when they came back from their holidays in Pattaya.

Keep away is my advice.
