where to find a good optician in Samui

There are really no good opticians on Samui since Sawang optical left.

I got my last glasses at his sisters place in Bangkok.

I tried a couple of other places over the years and got only rubbish.

The staff in most places are under trained and hired for their legs.

it is not your normal shop to just get over priced glasses! 

 

Seems to me in the past a few people have commented that this guy is OK!  He certainly helped me!

I agree some have super legs. I got some glasses from the guy in Nathon, they were not too bad but they were coated with some kind of film which started to come off in small pieces. I could never get them clean. Went to BKK for a decent pair.

Several years ago went to the one near  the corner Soi 4 in Maenam, had an examination by a beautiful dish in a white mini skirt which took maybe 90 seconds. A week later the glasses were handed to me in a fancy bag  , no fitting or adjusting, but did get a cheap wrist watch and a wall clock. Saweng was the only guy to do a proper examination & fitting.

It really comes down to what the problem is...  sometimes glasses are not needed to sort the problem ..... as was my case.

 

But for Samui the guy in Nathon, is probably the best bet to start ....(not one of the shops who are only interested in a sale....)

 

Otherwise had my problem gotten worse he would have sent me to Surrattthanni to a specialist there... I am not sure where exactly...

 

But I heard at the time there was some one in Had Tai, near the main hospital there, was excellent  .... I never did track down where ...

 

The government hospital in Nathon, used to have a specialized but moved on, I am not sure if they have a new one there or not.
