good god... there`s fair play and then there is this...trying to get into eachothers pants or something.

however the referee has at least an italian grandmother, if not an italian passport under his mexican costume. italy has fouled at least as much as germany, including some sandwiches (2 italians squeezing the ball out of the german) and not even the whistle has gone ..

Great game so far, though the Italians seem to die a theatrical death whenever touched . . . Totti is a clown with his face-clutching Thierry Henry-like antics.

in the end italy probably deserved it. for the first time in the world cup history, 3rd division players get a chance to become world champions ...since likely most of the squad and their teams will be relegated next season

But on the bright side it was a very good game, refereeing was good (made easier by the players as well, despite hystrionics by some Italians) and in the end the better team did win.

Germany knew we didn't have a world class team this year so it's a good achievement to get to be 3rd/4th in the world. Almost no-one was saying we would win the WC, and we came further than anticipated.

Well done to the players . . . . . . . . . and good riddance to Ballack as he goes off to Chelsea, what a disappointment he was this time.

Two well deserved goals, perfectly executed. Germans had their chances and shots on goal, but they always just smiled and gave eachother thumbs up.

Italians, on the other hand, worked their socks of and had no time to pat each other on the back for each wayward pass. It paid in the end.

I think Germans were overconfident and though the gods will help them, no need to score when they had chances.

I totally agree with Plus - doesn't matter what they munch, they won fairly and decently. and I think they played better on average.
