Progressive contact lenses in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Can anybody help me to find an optician selling Progressive contact lenses in Bangkok.

I have tried a couple of opticians on Sukhumvit this morning but was told at both places that this type of contact lens is not, or is no longer available in Thailand.

I am looking for Progressive or Multifocal contact lenses, not the normal type of contact lenses which  are widely available.

It's true.  I can't find an optometrist in Thailand who can help me understand why (my fault -- I don't understand Thai well enough).  I heard about a shop around Sukhumvit 25 that ordered them from Singapore but it was ultimately too good to be true.  The test was something from the 19th century and the prescription was imprecise.  The contacts themselves were uncomfortable in my eyes and a brand I was unfamiliar with.  I tossed the 800 baht/pair into the trash.

My next step was to get a prescription from Top Charoen but 1800contacts in the US wouldn't accept it.

I've given up and back to wearing glasses.

Try Boston in Onnut. Close to Sukhumvit end. It's 2 shop houses opposite Big C.
Sorry don't have a phone number for the place

You can buy progressive/multifocal lenses at Wor Siam on Sukhumvit Road (near the bottom of Soi 29. Very helpful and speak English. You can also buy at Rutnin - where they can also prescribe - but they were more expensive.

Wor Siam doesnt hold stock but can order for collection in a couple of days. You can call them on 02-258-3756

I found this outlet by writing to J&J Acuvue on email - they asked me where I lived and suggested this place - which suggests that there are more outlets that stock these in other parts of the city.
