where to buy aeration pump in Petchebun

Featured Replies

I hope it is ok to post this here. I wanted to put it here for location.

I am looking for an aeration pump for a large fish tank I will be raising Tap Tim in. I tried before to raise them with a small pump in the tank but it just didnot produce enough oxygen. I donot wish to travel allover thailand to find one. I am hoping it is possible to get one in Petchebun.. And I am terrible at finding things like this on my own.If need be I will go to Bangkok or elsewhere to get one but prefer not too if possible, but there also I will need to know where to go to buy it.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks to all in advance.

Maybe you should think of getting a power filter then it would do 2 jobs

at once, clean the water and aerate at the same time, get one (most do)

that has a venturi ,all that does is suck air into the water stream as it

comes out of the pump.

The power filters are easier to maintain than air pumps, and a powerful

one say 1200 ltrs hr. is not much more than a big air pump,6-700 bht,

they hang on the inside of the tank,if the pump does not come with a

big enough filter box, i usually replace it with a big coke bottle with the

bottom cut off, fill it with filter wool,or sponge, those Cichlids eat a lot,

and also produce a lot of waste.

I am from Chiang Mai and there are plenty places here that sell them,

and 4 outlet air pumps, and i am sure there must be a tropical fish shop

somewhere in your area, they maybe around areas that sell plants etc.

anyway good luck,i would go with the power filter if i was you.

Thanks Worgeordie I really appreciate your input.

I tried a pump inside the tank and filtered the water through fibre and rock thinking that would do the job. It works fine for my paduk but all my tap tim died using the same equipment.. I think this is what you are suggesting am I right. I see in the market they pump water right into the tanks and I looked at some videos online about raising tilapia which is basicly what tap tim are i believe. They suggest lots of air also so I feel I will go the airpump way. Just need to find one big enough.

There is a pet shop in the center of Phetchabun town that sells filters. Sorry can't tell you the exact address, but it is up behind the market on the street that goes to the highway. has an archway, but no traffic lights. There is also a shop in Tesco Lotus (at the opposite end of the center to the food hall entrance), they sell all kinds of electrical and parts. The pumps are on the back wall to the left of the entrance. Also prices are cheaper there.

ask at the market where they sell the live fish for eating.

Two choices, approachjng from lomsak, into phetchabun, main roD, left side is yellow bank, two properties up is fish shop, or, carry on upto Big C lights, left side just through the lights is big shop selling garden stuff, they sell the bigger pumps for fountains etc.
