How long between visa exemptions?

Featured Replies

Hi
New to posting though I've been trying to keep up with the visa saga on here for months.
Forgive me but I'm still confused......

Since the 12 August "crackdown" , can I still - on visa exemptions - do an eight-week visit to SE Asia along the lines of the one I did in Jan-Feb this year.....

(i) Fly into Bangkok from London, armed with return ticket for end of trip but also with confirmed airline tickets to a nearby country (did Phil last time but would probably go elsewhere this time) for about three weeks from first arrival in Thailand
(ii) Spend weeks 1, 2 and 3 in Thailand -( f.w.i.w.mainly in/around Nongkhai),
(iii) Fly out to nearby country for weeks 4 and 5
(iv) Return and spend weeks 6, 7 and 8 in Thailand
(v) Return to UK.
British passport, male, mid-sixties, no matrimonial baggage. Would have necessary cash on hip. Planning to come out late this year/early next. Not looking to live in Thailand permanently (and certainly not work) but if it all went well could easily become a regular winter visitor in due course.
Guess my concern is that I've not seen a definitive decision on how long do you have to be "out" of Thailand to avoid the "out/in" stigma. Clearly a same day/overnight/ otherwise rapid return would bring problems but will two weeks away mark me as a bona fide tourist or don't we really know yet?
BTW - if all this is still possible but if I were to return to Thailand - step (iv) above - by a land border, would I still get 30 days or are we back to 15?
Thanks in advance for any info

That should be no problem. It is obvious you do not live in Thailand and are here for a holiday.

Land border is still 30 for G7 nationals.

Amen.

I was so tired of looking up "tourist" in the dictionary. tongue.png.pagespeed.ce.JwCxzAWj6x.pngtongue.png.pagespeed.ce.JwCxzAWj6x.png

I was going to do the same but just intend to stay 2 month in Thailand ! is it OK that I am not leaving to a nearby country &

just going to get a 1900Bht extension ? Cheers in advance

With a ticket out to your home country to show it should not be a problem to get an extension. or make 1 border run.

If your willing to pay for an extension, why not just pay a little bit more and get a double entry visa to avoid that extension fee and effort and sleep easy knowing your not doing exemption entries? Sometimes peace of mind is worth a few clams.
