I've often seen our illustrious local police stopping motorcycles in Thonglor and along their part of Sukhumvit, but today they were pulling over all motorcycles where anyone riding wasn't wearing a helmet, that included passengers where the driver was wearing a helmet and included motorcycle taxi customers, I've never seen that before.

I watched for a few minutes whilst a few riders after being signalled to stop just did a quick u-turn, and a couple of motorcycles with helmet less soldiers who just kept going after being signalled to pull,over.

They crack down on not wearing helmets in that area (and other areas) every so often. The junta is not pushing all police to enforce rules. Only time will tell if this will continue or will revert back to business as usual.
