Aloha,
Thanks for all your advice in the past; I just thought I would let you know how it all turned out.
I did go to Bangkok and got robbed, then went back to Cm after my passport got robbed too. I had nothing in CM and passed out he street and the consulate got involved and because I was sick and all, they paid my immigration fine and airline ticket too. Well they loaned the money really, but the same.
No time in immigration jail, they even had a cool consulate Thai guy meet me at the airport and handle all things with immigration. Immigration saying see when I get back. SO LUCKY I WAS THIS TIME.
Well got back to Hawaii with 5 dollars and slept on the beach for a week, got into this really good shelter with a bunch of others and have a good place to sleep and showers with dinner too. We all have our own cubicle to sleep in.
The government gave me 320 in food stamps right away and then 320 in cash for other needs, with free health insurance too, which I have used. And a free phone.
Working on getting my social security in place and veteran’s benefits and then when I return to Thailand I will really be retired with direct deposit checks every month.
So about 2 years will return and make all things right.

ALOHA

This can't be for real....or can it????blink.png

Edit: Based on his past posts I think it is for real. Hope you get it together soon. Best of luck.

Well, it's nice to know that there is hope for a US citizen who becomes destitute in Thailand.

I personally have no problem with my tax dollar being used to get this guy and those like him off the streets of Chiang Mai and onto the streets of Honolulu. Plus, as he said, he has to pay the US govt back. The freebies in Hawaii are the Hawaiian state taxpayers' problem and that doesn't include me, thank God.

Yes it was and is for real.

there are my tax dollars, just my like my past tax dollars in Hawaii.

There is a saving grace.

The Govt. must have given him a computer too.

so you will return in 2 years and do the same again?.

hope you will have paid the Govt. loan by then.

regards Worgeordie

That's a bit harsh Thighlander. The man did say he was ill and in previous posts said he was living with the hill-tribes for more than 10 years and had a child. I think he said he was a veteran too. Maybe luck ran out for him, he could even be mentally ill. Don't be so quick to judge. We don't know the whole story. It could even happen to you one day.

Thanks for that "electrified", you are correct. He did say he was a vet and sick. If he lived with the hill-tribes for 10 years, he gets a lot of points for that too, at least from me.

Too easy to judge and close ones mind by doing so.

Yes I was a Vet.

Yes I do have two teenagers in Thailand.

No they did not give me a computer. (Decent library in Hawaii).

My money ran out but not my luck.

I will return but will not OVERSTAY ever again. I will keep a visa and be retired and my money will be constant forever.

Thanks for all the positive comments.
