Before anyone thinks I have recently 'come out', I should explain that I always try to buy my underwear at a shop that caters for gay men, because I find the style of underwear that is generally available for 'straight' men in the 'mainstream' shops to be boring, dated, ugly, 'square' and a whole load more of negative descriptive words.

When I flaunt my tackle, I do not like to do it in a pair of cheap Y fronts...... It's been like that for decades, long before I moved to live in Thailand.

I used to buy underwear from a shop at Tukcom, Pattaya, but I don't plan to be in that town, but will be in BKK next week. I'd like to stock up on some quality, stylish underwear.

Any suggestions for a shop in BKK?

There are many international gay brands at all.

Zen have a great selection and styles to suit everyone...

So that would be my first port of call.

Perhaps off topic, but the old boxers vs. briefs argument has always amused me.

I've seen some pretty underwear at Central World. They have calvin klien, aussibum, 2xist, lots more . But I don't remember if the majority were swimsuits haha

To report back, there are no photos because my trip wasn't really that successful...

I visited Pantip Plaza to purchase a high gain wi-fi router antenna, (which I purchased some years previously). I couldn't find the shop and I couldn't be bothered to put up with the touts shoving porn into my face.

So I went to Platinum Shopping Mall, which in my innocence I thought would be an upmarket shopping centre. In fact, it's a down-market place jam-packed with shopping stalls and about 1 million people. So I gave up on that also.

I finally found some nice (fake) underwear on a street stall in Sukhumvit. Nothing that exciting, but a nice style in cotton (can't stand man-made fabrics).

Zen is my underwear shopping place of choice. Everything from ultra-brief, buttless, jockstrap looking types to ordinary briefs and many brands that are gay owned and gay popular (at least in my experience). For just plain comfort reasons I prefer something slightly in between: briefs that aren't too brief, but something more stylish than tighty-whiteys. I usually find something I like a Zen and I have often been cruised by other shoppers... one stop shopping!

Overheard two straight expats at the gym:

Expat1: I need to buy some underwear today.

Expat2: Just don't buy 2xist or Calvin Klein.

Expat1: Why?

Expat2: Because that's what gays wear.

Expat1: I thought it was just: gays wear briefs and straight guys wear boxers.

Expat2: Have you been living under a rock? Seriously, it's way more complicated than that.

I laughed out loud and then I was the guy everyone stared at... oops.

Some nice brands available at department stores such as Zen have been mentioned. No need to buy fakes - I think if you really like good underwear, this would be the ulimate contradiction. Or sacrilege.
