Does anyone have any up-to-date info. on gaining a multiple entry tourist visa from Penang? Think tis is my only way to stay legally in Thailand. I want to stay for at least another 6 months.

The last I heard someone had a problem and said they wern't issuing them anymore. Was this just a one off and they're back on again?

I've been doing monthly visa runs and now want to get a longer visa sorted out - less stress and worry about staying for the distant future!

How do these visas work? I know you can stay for 90 days and then go to the border, but do you get issued with 1 or 2, or do you get a years worth, i.e. can you apply for 4 multiple entry visas at once?

What kind of paper work do you need? (anyone got one recently?)

Any advice would be useful.

Tourist visas are valid for entry for a given period - max I have heard of being 6 months. Within that time you can stay a max of 2 months at a time, but can extend in Thailand with 1 month (1900 Baht) so total 3 months at a time. With a triple entry visa you well then, with well timed last visa-run just before the 6 months expire, be able to get a total of 9 months in the country on that visa. You can not get more than 1 visa at a time.

Others can comment on Penang as I have no idea. Cheers!

well.....sounds like penang is my best bet then!

as i've never had a triple entry tourist visa before, what documents will i need? just my passport, the correct form (i assume i can print from the internet) and the fee (how much is it now and can you use thai baht?)

Also......do they put more consieration into giving you a triple entry visa if you hve many tourist visas? What's the cost of accommodation down there at the moment?

Thanks for the advice!

You will need passport, photos, Malaysian currency for payment, form will be provided by Consulate or visa agent and you fill it out, believe cost is about 100 ringgit per entry.

A good business class hotel runs about 100 ringgit per night. Guest house about half that.

Believe the fewer visas the better; but do not believe it is an issue in any case.

Yesterday’s tomorrow is today. Perhaps putdk had to rush to catch his flight from Penang and is now in the traffic jam from Don Muang to his abode in Thailand and hopefully he will remember to post the result of his visa application.
