financing motor bike in Thailand

Featured Replies

I was wondering what kind of proof of income was require when financing a motor bike or anything for that matter.

Don't try to finance a motorbike, the interest rates are crazy, like 2% a month. Unless you are talking about a big bike Ducati etc which has a a dealer financed low interest deal. You will almost certainly need a thai guarantor.

Sorry but your estimate of % are way off.

OP, if you do not have WP, you would need a Thai guarantor and 25% down.

Interest rate is around 7-8% per year, for expansive bikes or 13-17% on cheaper bikes.

Interest also varies on how much down and how many years.

During a financially difficult period I went to a m/c dealer, paid 50% on the m/c and the rest in 2 monthly installments. No interest paid. He took a copy of my passport, my rented house contract and he kept the m/c documents and a spare key until I had paid it off.
