Safe to remove/delete or not ?

Featured Replies

I have additional windos folders, one is windows.old, the other windows.old.000

is it safe to delete these without causing me hassle ?

The "old" file isnt very big and last modfied around 3 years ago according to log. The other old.000 is huge with about 5gb of files in there.

Are these necessary or just remnants of previous installations of old OS system ?

Previously had vista, currently windows 7, system 5 year old.

Thanks for any info & help

MJ, when you load win7 onto a computer that already has an existing OS the old OS is saved into a deperate folder.

If this is the folder that you are referring to then it is safe to delete but please double check that it is this folder that you are deleting.

If you are not sure back everything up first.

Hi MJ,

In my last post I wrote 'deperate folder' when that should have read 'separate folder', the problem is that the 'S' & 'D' keys are next to each other, so with my fat fingers mistakes sometimes do occur.

You must think that I'm a right sipdtick.

I read it as 'desperate' folder. A trip to the opticians looms. (Though at 72 I ought to create such a folder.)
