Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
not the point is it. his records clearly show a different story than was presented . you almost brought up trump in your response but you settled for russia. you must feel relieved. the man did not finish ALL the proper training and was demoted from that rank. as far as i know rank means everything in the army. otherwise they wouldn't have it nor put so much credit and importance into it. -

Foreign Volunteers Join Meeting with Pattaya Tourist Police to Improve Tourist Safety
As an ex- Tourist Police Volunteer based first in Chiang Rai and then Khon Kaen, with 34 years UK Police Service behind me, I had no legal status (such as power of arrest). My job was to assist Thai Officers when out on patrol dealing with language problems, crowd control (at festivals), special operations and tourist attractions. When based in Chiang Rai, we visited temples and schools in the mountains to assist the ethnic minority Hill Tribes. In Khon Kaen, I often manned the TP Enquiry Desk at the airport KKC assisting arriving visitors . Along with other local volunteers, I often had to parade for, and meet, visiting dignitaries. I did not need a work permit (special permission from the Employment Ministry) and later on in my 9 years service, a fee of 100 baht per call out was paid. (no idea about this these days). Of course, where I worked was vastly different from Pattaya and I rarely encountered drunk or drugged tourists/ ex-pats. Whatever you "anti" brigade say in your BS comments, I certainly enjoyed my 9 years up North learning much about Thai tourism. -

The Tim Walz thread.
No, I care that he is a hard leftist. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of the left not caring that their guy is a liar, or that he cut and ran rather than be deployed with his unit. -

School Van Accident in Northern Thailand Takes Young Student's Life
I reckon you should start a #gofundme campaign immediately. If each member here will donate 10 USD, a second hand one might be possible. -

Anyone having a problem with Wise/Bangkok Bank?
It happened to me recently... IIRC what I did was cancelling the transfer and then tried again later. The next time the transfer proceeded as normal. -

The Tim Walz thread.
Jacob Thomas, communications director and a spokesperson for the progressive veterans’ group Common Defense, said it was “weird and desperate” to attack a fellow veteran’s military record. “That just doesn’t seem like a winning message,” he said. “We don’t need to spend this time hitting each other on things that don’t matter. We all served. And like I said, frankly, it just reeks of desperation.” And I totally concur and agree with that, but since both Trump and Vance are very desperate men at this point they will resort to desperate measures, and they will cling to rather hollow arguments. After all Vance never saw active combat, he was a photographer not a soldier. But Trump's has always been a coward, and I suspect Vance has always been one too, so this will be the nature of their arguments. -

Dissolution of Move Forward disenfranchises 14 million Thais – US
It's a saying that people get what they deserve. Average thais are politically ignorance, they know nothing about democracy. How else can you explain that poor thais give their votes to the elite parties or the criminal Thaksin? 14 millions gave their vote to MFP, but it should be considerably more. This is not because thais in general are stupid, but because the lack of education. The people are indoctrinated to beleive that without the king and military they are doomed. Typically, members of MFP are educated people with a higher political understanding than the average thai. Hope they are able to use the coming time to politically educate the people. -

Trump Claims Harris Is 'Afraid' to Debate on Fox News Amid Debate Controversy
Trump is never strong, and these days he's increasingly weak as his cognitive mental decline is in full view to the world. -

What are the best ways to meet other expats?
Yes, Meetup.com is very big and good in the US. https://www.meetup.com/th-TH/find/thailand/ I was hiking 2-3 times a week in LA and did go to many others too. Great people! Some poor, some millionaires but all had a great time together. Maybe we should start hiking group once a week in Pattaya / Jomtien / Sattahip? -
