VPN for AppleTV, Chromecast, Roku

Featured Replies

I'm planning to get an Apple TV, Chromecast or Roku for watching U.S. content. My ISP in Thailand is 3BB. What VPN service would work for this? I've only ever used a VPN as an extension like Hola! or software on my computer but never on a router.

I use overplay. you get SMART DNS and VPN works great. SMART DNS is best for Netflix and hula and most routers it is a simple set up. You then could use the VPV for other stuff, I use 3BB fiber and used ADSL with 3BB before that and it worked great. Then and now.

using a full VPN can slow things down and most VPN services are not unlimited even though they advertise as such so for faster video streaming for location based services Like Netflix, Hulu, Pandora SMART DNS is the way to go

The unlock US that was mentioned is SMART DNS only. I did try them several years ago but had routing issues and got better speeds through my VPN but that was more then 5 years ago. Many ISPs here are throttling VPN traffic as censorship increases. Not a new thing here it started back in Thaksins time.

One more remark for those using true unlock USA and other SMART DNS services may not work for more details on that and why do a google search. Hope this helps. You are fine on 3BB

Apple TV cannot be configured to use VPN. But you can use a DNS proxy service such as:

Similar goes for the Chromecast (without hacks)
