I have a retirement visa that is due December 22, 2014.

The US embassy has the last outreach program in Pattaya on October 8, 2014.

Will an income verification - notarized form issued on Oct 8, be valid until Dec 22, 2014?

or

do I have to go to the Embassy in Bangkok just before Dec 22?

Thanks for any advice. smile.png

Just not true. never had a problem and never heard of any American being asked for further proof. You have claimed this several times on this forum and have never offered any proof to back up what you are guessing about. You are starting to come across as being jealous of Americans.

whistling.gif I guess you'll be doing your renewal in Pattaya then.

But just for anyone with a Bangkok Bank account, I want everyone to know that if your do your retirement renewal from Chaengwattana you can get a letter downstairs at the Bangkok Bank office there on the same day for a 100 Baht fee.

Takes about 10 to 15 minutes max, and is recognizable and accepted upstairs in immigration for your renewal.

Just have your passport for I.D. and your bank passbook with you. No problem.

All done by computer and in a nice official looking letter format.

I use the bank statement with a letter from the bank the afternoon before . Then they say they want the same day balance and I send someone downstairs to get it . They wouldn't take a same day atm slip . I laugh and do it , if they are so concerned about someone cheating they should check the bank book from the year before (require it ) and if they cheated fine them 100,000 baht .whistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gif

You can apply for a renewal of your extension of stay at Pattaya up to 45 days before it expires ... I do it each year. You won't lose any time on your extension. The new one will still run to Dec 22, 2015. So you could go in as early as the second week of November.

The letter from the US embassy will be accepted up to 6 months. I get my letter several months before I go to Jomtien each year. No problem.

For one month I have been researching the new rule regarding seasoned funds under the combination option at the time of the application submission for a retirement extension.

I have finally determined why Bangkok Immigration, District 1 is taking the position of demanding seasoned bank funds of 3 months at the time of the application for the second extension application, and 60 days at the time of the first extension application.

For many years this was not the case at Bangkok Immigration regarding the combination rule.

Recent posts confirm that Pattaya Immigration is not taking this position, which has caused much confusion.

Today, I examined Bangkok Immigration, District 1's website, questions and answers and the written rule has changed and their Q&A has been updated. The wording is clear now why they are demanding seasoned bank funds at the time of the application s submission.

The URL address is, http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=faq

I refer you to #22 Question : What is the required age of the alien wishing to stay in Thailand with the reason of Retirement.

The key sentence is at 2.3, In case of combination of having money in the bank account and income from pension, with total amount of not less than 800,000 Baht per year, the required documents at the same as mentioned in 2.1 and 2.2. That language was updated.

Therein, those sentences state specifically the updated bank passbook on the date of the application submission showing money in the account has been deposited and consecutively held of such amount for 3 months! (Except the first application for this reason, that such amount should be deposited and held for 60 days)

I have copied and pasted all of the #22 rule Question, printed and scanned it and the file is attached.

Again, this is for Bangkok Immigration, District 1. Other districts are following different rules according to recent posts.

With regard to the Embassy Income verification letters, the time has changed from 15 days to 6 months. If the letter is older than 6 months, you will have to go to the Embassy and obtain a new one.

I have copied, pasted, printed and scanned the new printed rule in Thai and translated to English for your convenience. It has been reported some Thai Immigration officers do not have a copy of the new law, so you should bring copies with you in the event they are still going by the 15 day rule.

Hopefully, this information will clear up the confusion.

Thanks for your work. It confirms that BKK-immigraiton wants to see the money seasoned in case of the combo method and that is an offical requirement at this office. I was hoping it was a mistake.

Our english translation says the follwowing:

Must have an annual earning and fluids deposited with a bank totaling no less than Baht 800,0000 as of the filing date.

"As of the filling date" suggests BKK-immirgaiton is in this case wrong.

Sorry but what has my post/request have to do with harder demands on others? Could you clarify your remark?

You can apply for a renewal of your extension of stay at Pattaya up to 45 days before it expires ... I do it each year. You won't lose any time on your extension. The new one will still run to Dec 22, 2015. So you could go in as early as the second week of November.

Thank you for your clear response.

So if I get the income verification letter stamped at the outreach program on Oct 22, I can then on or after November 8, 2014 get the new 1 year extension good to December 22, 2015?

That will enable me to go home for Xmas and come back in Jan or February 2015 using the extended retirement visa? (with a re-enty permit )
