Karting in Chiang Mai - Great fun, and Cheap(ish)....

Just sharing the love here. I have no interest in Chiang Mai Speedkart, other than going there yesterday, loving it, and finding the young Polish guy who owns it, and his wife, to be lovely people.... and deserving of getting more business.

So, disclaimer over... thumbsup.gif

Yesterday, I organised a group of us on a Stag Do, to go karting for the afternoon, and it was the most fun I have had with my clothes on for AGES! The place is quite handy for town, not far from the night safari, and has some plenty "fast enough" karts to race in. As well as the rental karts they have many members with their own crazy fast 2 stroke karts. They were on the track while we were there and they are mad to watch - power sliding around the faster corners, and with phenomenal acceleration.

The fast karts is why I am posting. Some of these fast guys (including the fastest Thai kart driver in the country) will be there racing this afternoon from 12pm. I don't know when it will end; I think just a couple of hours of friendly racing. Anyway, they sell beer and soft drinks and I will be there at 12pm if any one on the forum cares to join me - I am the incredibly handsome guy with more hair on my chin than on my head! Free motor racing to watch, and believe me, this is not playing. They are fast as hell, and hardcore racers...

If you fancy having a go yourself, the walk-in price of 700 Baht for 10 minutes is a bit steep (but the time is plenty long enough - this is hard work!), BUT, you can do what I did and buy a years membership for 1000 Baht. It is then only 350 Baht for 10 minutes. You also get the right to buy tickets for friends at 400 Baht a pop, with the caveat that you buy in blocks of 10 (4000 Baht). The good bit is that you don't have to use all 10 on the day - they are valid for a year.

All in all, BLOODY WICKED! I went yesterday and am back today... Happy days! Fat old people welcome (that's a Thai Visa member dig, by the way...giggle.gif )

Actually, the main racing starts at 4pm today - so still time, if anybody is interested... (and they sell beer!)

Had I seen this earlier I'd have come along... just 5mins down the road from mine. Perhaps a TV Karting day might be in order ... great fun for young and old!

Do they allow you to bring your own cart and ride it on their track ?

way to expensive.

Compared with the first one I found in the UK:

25 quid (Bt1300) for 15 mins?

I've done this in Pattaya & its a lot of fun.....though i'd hate to live close by a go-kart track!

So for 3 gos of 10 min ea. your already saving money and from then in it's 1/2 price never the less the big savings for your buddies, sounds like a great deal if your want anything more then just a try. Wish I had friends :(
