Grand travel events planned for Ko Tao after murder case solved

BANGKOK, 28 September 2014 (NNT) - Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanawarangkun has traveled to Ko Tao island in Surat Thani province to follow up on the progress of the murder of two British tourists. The minister said she would arrange activities to boost confidence among tourists after the case was closed.

After arriving in the island, the minister met with local officials, tourism entrepreneurs and tourists to listen to their problems and opinions. The Surat Thani governor told the minister that Ko Tao still lacked government officers to work on the island and there was insufficient water for consumption. The island also faced an electricity problem since it used power from the private sector only.

Ms Kobkarn said she had studied the problems of Ko Tao before visiting the island and confirmed all sides were doing their best in solving the murder case. The minister added that she had approved the establishment of a tourist police center on the island as well as grand events to improve the image of Ko Tao.

Agngsta described it as biszare you're not kidding, what are we celebrating ,some token celebration is envisaged, if this is the standards set by the government on how to run a tourist industry, then support for the reignation of the Minister must be the only course of action , Minister how insultuing can you get , pardon the offence but you truly need your head read , the nutty professor would be good company for you.

'Grand Events' are being planned. Locals are to be rewarded with new water and electricity supplies. How can this really be being planned and discussed by these insensitive people at a time when the killers still walk free? A permanent memorial to the two victims of the KohTao atrocity would be a nod in the right direction, but how likely is that?

Angsta mentioned the British Embassy and I've had experience of the Diplomatic Service in a couple of Asian capitals.

Very often the take ' diplomacy ' to extremes and that includes not unduly upsetting the host country so attitudes and language can be moderated just a bit too much. I do remember reading a representative was sent to the island early on but nothing further.

Of course they can easily hide behind they fact that they cannot interfere in an ongoing investigation in a sovereign nation and throw in that ' appropriate representations ' have and are being made.

One of the ways to light a fire is if questions come from the Foreign Office and that requires pressure in Britain by family and the media.

they have done nothing remotely close to getting the case solved and they are planning some grand event of CELEBRATION?!

what has this country degraded into?

PM please hear the calls of decency and sanity!

This however, is a clear indicator that something big will happen within the next few days that WILL close this case for GOOD.
