problems downloading android apps from home true internet wifi

Recommended Posts

When I want to update or install an android application at home using wifi from my true internet it does not download. Everything else on the phone works fine and internet websites load fast. When I connect my phone to a wifi connection outside my home it will update and download applications without any problems

Anyone know what I can do at home to resolve this issue?

True Cable (DOCSIS), DSL or 3G?

Is WiFi a separate box or the same box as the True router? Brand/model number?

Any other WiFi devices having issues when connected to your True supplied Internet connection?

Have you tried power-cycling (Off/On) the True router/WiFi equipment?

The google android PlayStore uses a secure connection and requires the phone have the correct date/time for the certificates to work. Though, if you can receive updates on other WiFi connections, it will probably be an issue with how your True equipment is set up or how the firewall is configured.

Thanks Richcor. I have true DSL and not separate but part of the router. It is a 4 port true Billion Wifi router The only think I have coonected to the router is magic jack for calling USA and it works but often looses the connection but not sure it's an internet speed problem and magic jack. Turning on anf off has no affect.

Does the phone give any error messages, or does it just let you view playstore lists and let you click purchase/install but then ... what? Nothing? No error message?

Has this been the case from day one using the phone on your True Internet connection?

I'm trying to get specifics to see if a google search might find other's with similar issues. Finding nothing so far.

Thanks again Richcor. I can access my applications and click update and it says download but continues to try to download . When I use it on another WiFi it will immediately begin to download updates. I am using Asus Zen phone 5 and have updates from Asus as well as Google and it is the same.

Really sounds like something to do with your True Internet 4-port DSL Billion Wifi router configuration or account

Routers are really difficult to troubleshoot with just a mobile phone.

Have you ever connected a computer to it, and if so did it access quickly and reliably?

One possibility may be the type or types of WiFi encryption that are enabled on the router.

Some people find enabling a security type of 'WPA2-Personal' and encryption set to 'AES' (so don't use WPA/WPA2 or AES/TKIP as these dual settings can cause issues)
