Hospitals around Sakhon Nakorn

Featured Replies

Me and the missus are City slickers but plan to spend a few months up around the Pan Cone area this winter setting up a little hobby farm. The wife often gets hurt when gardening with me (one of us is careless) so I thought the least I could do is try and find out if there are any decent public hospitals in the area - just in case.

Afraid I have no idea where the "Pan Cone" area is relative to the rest of the province.

Fort Krit Srivara Hospital is an army hospital and would probably be the best quality care to be had. Civilians can use military hospitals, just have to pay full fee which for anything outpatient or simple, will not be much. This is certainly where I would go if I were there.

In the event of a major emergency involving your wife, and assuming she is Thai and covered under the Universal (AKA 30 baht) system, then should go to the provincial hospital. While normally care under that scheme is limited to the hospital where the person is registered (which since you live in the city is obviously not in Sakkon Nakorn) in case of emergency can go to the nearest public hospital (but not a military hospital - there, non-military people will always have to pay. For which reason they are not as crowded as the public hospitals).

Both of these places are in the provincial town, no idea how close that is to where you'll be.

There are also many small community hospitals, basically one per district excepting the ampur, these would be OK for simple wound care (in.c stitches) and a tetanus shot but probably not much beyond that.

Thanks - I'll get the wife to check it out, just in case she hits me with something for a change.
