RIPE Atlas Probe - interested to host?

Featured Replies

I see many people here always complaining about bad internet connections.. so the question, is anyone here interested in hosting a RIPE ATLAS probe?

For details on the RIPE ATLAS probes: See https://atlas.ripe.net/

This is a network of measurement probes run by RIPE, the european Internet Registry with probes all over the world. There is no cost to join, but

it is expected to keep the probes connected to the Internet at all times. In exchange for joining the network, you get credits to make your own

measurements on the network. This is a research based non-profit project. No cost to join (probes are free) and you don't earn any money either.

I have currently 2 spare probes with me here in Thailand. PM me if interested. You need to have some basic understandings of the Internet to make any use of it (specially for your own measurements), so I'm looking for a few more tech-savvy people who are interested.

Preferably not in Bangkok (where there are a few probes). So far close to nothing seems to exist in Thailand outside Bangkok. The probe can be connected behind business connection or DSL. It is required to connect it with an ethernet cable (not wifi).

PM me for more details or if interested.

Would be nice to get a better picture on how good/bad the internet here really is.
