Futsal fields to be checked
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A team of engineers will today further inspect futsal fields at 16 schools in Nakhon Ratchasima's Non Sung district that reportedly wore out prematurely - leading to suspicion of corruption.

The team would check the fields' structure, degradation and materials this month, Theerasak Wiriyaklompan, director of the Office of the Auditor-General, said.

Theerasak said the findings could potentially be used as evidence against the contractor, who won the bid to build the pitches for 50 Nakhon Ratchasima schools.

If the findings pointed to corruption, the OAG would proceed with disciplinary and civil action against the contractor while also forwarding the case to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission to proceed with a criminal action.

Theerasak said an inspection at three Non Sung schools found that the construction-material-standard certificates were signed by only the contractor, when they should have been signed by the hirer. The median prices, which were supposed to have been reviewed by the schools, were not reviewed.

Here we go again, penalise the contractor and rightly so, but what about all others in on this scam, is it going to be another case of letting them get away with it? This scam is nation wide and would have involved village heads, educators, Tesaban officials and politicians. Nail the lot of them.

Thailand ,the only country in the world where it is possible to be "a little bit pregnant".

They will drag this fiasco out until all involved have their stories right.

Check the intersection of the 214 and 214 ring road just south of Surin. It gets worn out every other month Talk about corruption..wink.png

This is not nation wide these courts were only built in the north and northeast.

Read the OP : also forwarding the case to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission to proceed with a criminal action.

That means the case will go to the organization responsible for investigating and taking action against civil servants.

As it says, so they can : proceed with a criminal action, against civil servants involved.

I agree.

This is not cleaning up corruption. This scam starts at the top of the chain in the provincial halls.

The contractor holds the key to who received what. This can be audited with receipts for material and labour costs for the entire project, then reconcile that against what was actually paid to the contractor and then simply ask the questions about where the rest of the cash went...

But already stating that they are only interested in pursuing the contractor for doing a shoddy job.... But how little was his cut of the money in the first place???

If I know Thailand, I bet less than 50% of the huge budget actually made its way to him.

There goes that C word again. Yet, we are expected to take the word of the cops in the Koh Tao murder case. BIB are ignoring the elephant in the room

Don't worry, if the contractor is penalized he will just fight it in court until it dies a slow death....or, he'll agree to just reduce/refund some small percentage of the contract costs which will leave him with a "smaller BIG" profit. TIT

The fact these Futsal Fields cost two and a half times as much as expert consultants say they

should is also a strong indication there was corruption in the bidding process. whistling.gif
