Am using drop box, and have all my files in a format as per my PC - cause they sync.

with iCloud, i seem to be able to access a document via i.e. pages on my iPad, but there is no iCloud directory list as per drop box.....

so what if i want to move i.e. all my files to iCloud, and want to i.e. open a pdf file....

apple has me confused

What are you trying to see the directory structure on? Both my desk top and laptop can see it with no problem now they have Yosemite on them, can also see file structure OK if I login through web browser. Have not tired through IOS yet cos I understood we needed the IOS8.1 update (to be released later today I think)

As a dropbox user myself - I am a bit underwhelmed by the mac icloud first iteration though. Its very basic.

Yes... i am underwhelmed as well.

Like you, have Yosemite, and can see directory structure, no problem. But, even with iOS 8.1, i still see a fundamental issue. My process in iPad drop box is

1) go to folder, or search document i am looking for

2) click on it - and select from choice which app i want to open it in ( i.e. pdf can open in GoodNotes, Adobe etc )

Using iOS8/ iCloud Drive.... the process looks like

1) think of the app

2) hope the file is in that format to open it.

Apple missed something fundamental i think.

FileApp works OK.

Touch the + button in the file list, then "Import...", and then "iCloud".

It'll be there.

To make a Preview folder in iCloud drive, open a PDF (or whatever) in Preview, then File>Move To... and choose iCloud-Preview from the pull down.

Bingo! you now have a Preview folder in iCloud drive.
