Good Places To Photograph Loy Krathong?

I'm going to be in Bangkok at the time of this year's Loy Krathong Festival. I'm an amateur photographer and would like to take some photos of what looks like a very photogenic event. I've heard some of the major areas get very crowded and I'd like to be somewhere where I'd have enough space to set up a small tripod, since light levels will be low in the evening.

Any have any suggestions? How to get to a suggested location by public transport would also be helpful.
