I've a few songs on a hard disk but I'm a bit too lazy* to create my own playlists. Is there anyway that I can download ready made lists that I can later just select based on the mood of the moment ?

* To be perfectly honest, I'm not really a great "connoisseur" in term of music so I much more prefer to trust the professional Djs when it comes to music selection

There's not much point in downloading someone else's playlist if you don't have their collection of music ;)

Sounds to me like you just want streaming radio - just find a station/DJ that spins tracks you like...

Thanks but it's not helping.

I've quite an extensive music collection but the problem is it has not been properly tagged. An other way is probably to use a scraper to retag everything. Any good scraper to recommend ?

XBMC is the only programme that I have found that can play

all the tracks in folder, without me needing to create a special list

Most of my music is classical and already organised in folders.

If using Windows, foobar200 and WinAmp and probably others can do that also.

there is no limitation to the operating system, still will load most stuff you have via samba (windows share), afp, upnp.dlna etc..

Thanks for your help. I'll try to make my problem more clear.

One section of my music collection are albums in FLAC format. Well organized, could be better but acceptable for the time being.

An other section is a folder where was dumped over the years a couple of thousand singles mostly in MP3 format. A lot of nice stuff, from the 50s up to today, that's the section that I try to organize.

Are you using it ? I try to to use it for the pas few days and the only result I got is a massive headache. It seems to be THE reference but to say there is a steep learning curve is an under statement. I can't even find a decent manual that explains what you can expect from this software and how to get there.

Another good tagger is MP3TAG (for Windows only): http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

I use it too. In this category TagScanner is my favorite (http://www.xdlab.ru/)

But these softwares work well once the files have been properly tagged. Of course you can fix missing tags manually but when you have a few thousand files to organize, checking and tagging them one by one is not really an option. I had a lot of hope with lastfmplus, a Picard plugin, but so far I can't manage to have it work xsad.png.pagespeed.ic.5zxzyGiJz0.png
