Bangkok: Where to find genuine Gibson Epiphone guitars?

Hi guys, I'm hoping to buy an Epiphone Les Paul from Bangkok. Can anyone tell me of any reliable shop which sells genuine Epiphone Les Paul guitars. I'll not be there physically, somebody will buy it on behalf of me.

I've been googling and found out that "Music Concept" a musical instrument store in Bangkok offers a wide variety of Epiphone guitars. Should i buy from there?

A Gibson 70's Tribute would cost about 32,000 Baht in "Music Concept".

Thanks in advance.

Yep, that shop is fine... Nobody is going to sell you a fake Epiphone there. Shame the duty jacks the price up so much here. Epiphones in many other countries are a real bargain.

I don't know if there are any fake Epiphone guitars. Most of them are manufactured in Indonesia, Korea and China. If you are looking for US-made guitars, then you need to add at least another zero to your assumed price.

If you visit a music store that seems to stock quality products and famous brands, you will not find fake guitars there. If they carry expensive symbals like Zildjian, Sabian or Paiste (symbals are pretty diffucult to fake), i would say their guitars are genuine as well. Also, they will give you a warranty for the guitar.

EDIT: I have not visited "Music Concept" but their web page seems to indicate they sell the real stuff.

Proplugin carries them. Haven't bought guitar from them, just amps. Just add dot com look at their stuff. Opened a shop next to Ekamai station in newish mall (sorry forgot name of it). Fake Epiphones? I did wonder about a new Epiphone ES 295 I saw in Chinatown a few years ago, all the stickers and such. Puzzled me as Epiphone stopped making them at least 10 years or so ago.

I do hope your friend picking it up for you is a fellow player. Quality tends to be more variable in second line brand (Gibby being first line). Some places in WTC also carry them....

Thanks for link to music concept. Always fun to have another spot to waste time on than here....

Why not inquire at the manufacturers website. Ask for their outlet in Bangkok and which serial number would be on their shipped products????

Did not see an autorized Gibson dealer in Thailand.... in Philippines, yes.

*****Gibson manufactures Epiphone******

By the way... Even in the USA, I inquired about a beautiful electric hollowbody Epiphone.... the price was quite reasonable, and at a decent music store. I asked the owner if it was an authentic Epiphone, and he laughed.... "not for that price, it isn't" He showed the "made in japan tag on it"

The originals are quite expensive.

Music concept is a very reputable store. I've bought an american fender from there and although they do sell Gibson brands, most of their guitars are fender brands, just one small room dedicated to Gibson. Their Fender prices are the lowest in Thailand.

The official Gibson dealer is on the second or third floor of Central World Plaza in BKK. They have quite a few different Epiphones as well and can order you everything you want.

'Made in Japan" is not a put down for a place guitar comes from. Japanese Fenders are highly regarded, and many see them as better. I'd say rank order of Asian made guitars is 1.Japan 2. Korea 3. Indonesia tied with China (depends on factory and quality asked for by brand)

Gretsch good ones still made in Japan, I think....

Are we going to be open to suggested alternatives, like Michael Kelly Patriot? haha
