Where To Live in Phuket?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

I am eager to try and get a student Visa to move to Thailand for a long period of time. (If you have any recommendations / advice for student visas as well, I'd love to hear).

The critieria I am looking for is quite simple and doesn't have to be only in Phuket. I am a 21 yr old male looking for a very gorgeous and quiet beach where I can live / work online. The beach must have frequent surf (intermediate level, no beginner only (2-8ft)) that is also not far from restaurants and nightlife/girls (restaurants preferrably very close but nightlife can be a short drive)

I would love to hear from those of you who actually live in Thailand. Thank you!!

Karen, maybe you didn't read what I said... I said "not far from it", not "close to it".....Also I've already found potential spots that comply with this criteria, so either you don't have experience in Phuket or too lazy to post a productive reply.

I live in Phuket.

There is NO surf at this time of year.

There are NO quiet beaches "not far away" from bars and girls.

High season is almost here.......good luck Don Quixote.

Don't bother with Google Earth.

Did I ask for surf in every day of the year?? Every surfer knows there are seasons for that........ I said "frequest surf". My question was in regard to LIVING in Phuket, not VISITING......... please gtfo my thread

Maybe you need to read up a bit more on the climate of Phuket, then you will know when there is surf and when there is not.

As for quiet beaches not far from nightlife and girls, you're 25 years too late.

Think about it. Would you open a business that relied on foreigners somewhere that was quiet? Common sense that seems self-evident to me.

Lol Karen you are so blind its ridiculous. I'm not opening a business you idiot I said "work online" because I already have one online. And never did I assume the surf was good right now. I already know when it's good in thailand. Lol. Please Get the <deleted> out my thread.

LOL. 4 posts and you know it all and are flaming someone by calling the poster an idiot.

First, you can't work online legally, and your ed visa scheme scam is totally illegal and immigration is getting wise to it.

If you already know it all, why ask a question and then argue with and flame someone whose on the ground?

I don't understand.............You are telling me that living in Thiland for a period of time is illegal with a student Visa? <deleted>?

I am not aware of how "ed visa" is a SCAM... I believe one studies for this... how is that a scam?? And I don't even need to work online. I have enough money without that

The Ed visa's of the past were pretty much a total scam. An easy way for foreigners to stay in Thailand for years without doing any real education. That has changed drastically over the past few months and looks to change even more in the future. Who knows where it will end up. The new government is trying to close this loophole and make those staying here long term get the proper visa. Or go home. The days of back to back visa runs are also over.

I think this is better off over in the Phuket forum. Be easy guys. He's a newbie trying to get things sorted out. We've all been there before!

Topic Moved.

P.S. OP: if you have concerns about visas, please open a new thread to discuss this in the Visa forum:

I am reading the thread you linked to, wow. I didn't realize all that. I suppose the books I were reading were outdated. Thank you

I was willing to study as much as it took to get that ed visa

I don't like the answer I was given, because Thiland is FULL OF BEACHES, do you also believe there are NONE that are quiet/surfable and require a cheap car / boat ride to nightlife? I don't care how long she was living in Phuket, he gave an ignorant reply acting as if he's been all over Thailand to be certain of no such kind of beach in existence. (I said it doesn't have to be only in phuket in OP as well)

The main area of nightlife is Patong. I'm no expert, but the other areas pale in comparison. Each beach has it's own "personality". And if you are in pretty much any other beach, getting to Patong isn't easy. There are some very dangerous roads and NO public transport. Only the tuk tuk mafia.

Based on my research that is just the area with the biggest Nightlife. I never said I was looking for the biggest / main nightlife location, but thanks.

Firstly, I'm a bloke.

Secondly, don't make stuff up. Nowhere do I claim I have been "all over Thailand". It is a wrong assumption by you (the second, so far).

There are NO quiet beaches not far from nightlife and women. How many times do you need to be told? I'm talking about Phuket because that is the title of your thread. Sheesh......dumber than a box of rocks.

ALL surf beaches are on the west coast, none of them quiet AND not far from nightlife. Surf is only during the SE monsoon.

There are some quiet beaches on the east coast, but, you can't swim there as they are mud below the high water mark and they are about 40 minutes by car to any nightlife with women. I don't class 40 minutes by car as near.

Well I have read many recent reviews (within weeks) of particular beaches that are widely considered quiet and not too far from nightlife, maybe your definition of "quiet" means literally not a soul in sight. Which is not what I am referring to as "quiet"... Also I did say, "doesn't have to only be in phuket" in the OP, so you clearly haven't even read it carefully. I don't care if the title says one thing

Just come here and explore and find an area you like.

People like different things and have different needs.

Come take a holiday and get your feet on the ground.

There is no other way or you will end up somewhere you dont like just by researching online.

It's just not wise to make a life changing decision based on forums and online advice.

You even said that the information you had on student visas was wrong.

Very true. I agree with you and am eager to see for myself asap. I guess I just expected some friendly and intelligent insight from members, but I realize that maybe they are #1, too dull minded, and #2, don't want the stereotypical young person like me coming to "there quiet beaches". I really just want to get away from the culture and chaos that I am now, and live in peace. I don't really give a shit about those on this forum who feel threteaned and entitled in THEIR so-called territory (like robert) when in reality they can't claim shit. It's the home of Thailand and Thai culture. I grew up in a religion that is in the same fundemental category as buddhism. So I know a little about being welcoming, friendly, and kind. Many people on this forum do not deserve any such thing, clearly they do not even practice the philosophy of Thai culture.

The general gist is you can't get everything you want in a "quiet" beach, "not to far" from nightlie/girls/restaurants. Pick 3 out of the four and decide which 3 are the most important. Throw in the fact that you actually will need to attend Thai classes on your ED visa and that muddles things up as far as choices off Phuket in quieter provinces.

Son, you just blew off someone who's lived in that area since before you were born. You say you want intelligent answers then you diss the person who knows the score. Speaking of intelligent, please learn to spell "threatened," "fundamental," and learn the difference between "there quiet beaches" and "their quiet beaches."

Also, you might want to look up the definition of "maturity."

Have a nice trip.

Just because I am considerably young does not mean I am spoiled and want everything... Maybe you and most other members misinterpreted my post. A 20-30 minute boat / car ride to night life is fine with me... and I am more willing than most people to take Thai classes....

I don't care how long someone has been living in Thailand. That is irrelevant if a person does not take part in and keep up to date with the subjects that I discussed (which he clearly doesn't). Also, I don't know what you consider to be "an intelligent answer" lol because I didn't think that poster, posted anything near intelligent or friendly. All he did was fail to read carefully and sway from the question. Also get your facts straight, intelligence has nothing to do with spelling. I'm not mature, and you are an Idiot.

Since it does not have to be in Phuket how about Hawaii? With your attitude you'll fit right in :-)

My attitude is the result of how angry I am at how disgraceful many of the people on this forum are, to the welcoming and kind nature of Thai culture. Stop acting so entitled you old hags.
