Does your Thai wife or g/f want to change her name to a more lucky one?

Mine was quick to adopt my surname when we got married, because she thought mine was more lucky. Her son - now 18yrs has recently changed his first name - I still call him by the old one as his luck doesn't seem to have changed.

My wife changed her surname to mine.

She is the luckiest girl in the world now.

Although it sounds a little silly.......A Thai with a Greek surname......whistling.gif

And no one who can speak it correctly......

The only cases of name changes for good luck that I have ever heard of were first names.

Maybe the beliefs and practices vary in different parts of the country.

It's quite common in the North where I live.

Ms. Bino hasn't done it, but many of the women in her family, and many other women I know have done this.

It is common practice among Thai women- based on the advice of a fortune teller.

I always embrace them to change it. Then i wait quite a bit and get back to them to check if they got luckier. The answer is always no but these people seem to never learn.

My wife before we got married visited a monk in Chiang Mai who was well known for fortune telling and he told to change her first name as she was starting a life me in Scotland. wai2.gif

I knew a Thai girl who did that once on the advice of a fortune teller too. Not sure if the fortune tellers really beleive it, or just enjoy seeing if people actually go along with it.

My wife kept her maiden name. It is far more lucky than mine. Actually, I am thinking about changing my surname to hers.
