Immigration Queue For First Time Retirement Extension

Recommended Posts

Posted

Mr K has converted his visa and is now on a Non-Immigrant-O which will be extended as a retirement 60-odd days after it was issued. Everything is in place, money in the bank, photocopies of everything etc so the extension will be a lot easier and smoother than the conversion - it is quite literally the same requirements.

Can he use the on-line queue for this? I only ask because it will be his first application for retirement.

no

why not? apart from the online queue probably being full.

not probably, the online queue is definitely full with 60 days or less in which to make the application

edit: confirmed above, did not notice the post because it did not show up on my screen initially

they could just walk in and do it fast in Chiang Rai, no appointment needed

Can you do this if you live in Chiang Mai, though? I guess you could use a CR hotel address...

Thank you all for the info - February is going to be too late, thanks for looking for me. As soon as we have the extension, I'll diarise it for next year and get in early enough when it's due again.

I wouldn't mind going up to Chiang Rai, it's a nice drive and an excuse for a day out, but I think you have to have proof of where you live, and I believe (but could be wrong) that you have to live in the province that you apply. I know that he had to take a copy of our lease as part of the paperwork when he converted to the Non Immigration-O - I sent him with the lease and copies of everything else he needed, but the agent didn't include it in the documentation when they took him for the visa conversion and they had to go back to immigration the following day. This of course means that the agents are snapping up appointments in advance as he was able to go the day after he visited the agent then again the next day. Snapping them up from the on-line system in advance or just by going ultra early in the morning? Exactly the same paperwork, bank book and letter from the back is required for the retirement application, so it's not going to be difficult. I'm not happy with the agent at all, we had to chase them up twice when the 15 days were up (important as we're going to Saigon early next week and needed his passport back) and the lease wasn't the first mistake they made. However, I see no option but to use an agent rather than getting up in the middle of the night and hoping that we're early enough to secure a place in the queue for retirement extensions - i.e. agents sending people ultra early to get places for their client/s, if indeed that does happen.

would a Chiang Mai address be acceptable there?

Last time I was there, C Rai Immigration was in Mae Sai. It has been a while, has it moved?

Also, Mr ES, what does your post have to do with the OP's issue?

very simple i.m.o.

the o/p was getting the bumsteer

all can be done here in c/mai,

me thinks, most agents get a appointment or a saloon passage ,with a small cough here and there,or perhaps the dept think they are worth it as they are certainly releiving their overloaded duties

my appearance last march with my super agent doing koninis o/p thing took 5 mins max

she ducked behind the main counter, a few mins later returned with a immgr office worker with my p/port

he checked my melon (no probs there as e/s is very handsome) and we were on our way

good luck konini

"Melon" is Australian slang for "head", well it was 50 years ago.ES is in a time warp and still lives there. Even Stevens was a great Australian race horse but even they eventually go in to retirement.

Hopefully the present ES will do the same and stop posting gibberish, although his position as a PR rep for "Visa Agents' would be in jeopardy.
