Cheap visa extension service ?

Folkguitar "which is why there is often so much confusion for 'some' folks, and why many of us use an agent instead."

many or some of you?

Do that many people really use Visa agents?

That's a good question, Vagabond. I can only relate what "I" see when I go there, and I only go there twice every three months, and spend less than a minute each time.

What I see, though, is two or three different 'clients' either signing papers, picking up passports, or sitting with the boss or his partner. And I see this same situation each time I go there. The AssistThaiVisa office is staffed by 5-6 young women and a couple of men. None are ever sitting around playing with their cell phones. They are busy. Every time I go there.

But keep in mind that AssistThaiVisa does a LOT more than just help people extend their visas. They seem to do everything relating to passport needs, from converting visas, renewing visas, making initial applications for visas, 90-day sign-ins, etc. PLUS... they also offer other legal services.

But the real indicator of their business is the fact that they have been IN business for the past 3-4 years. They couldn't stay in business if they didn't have clients. We're all aware that renewing or extending a visa isn't rocket science. Anyone 'could' do it if they really wanted to. But it would seem that quite a few of us simply don't want to bother. And AssistThaiVisa stays in business. I believe there are 2-3 other Visa services in Chiang Mai as well, as I know that the Expat Club recommends one that is located in the Neiman area. I guess there is enough business for more than one.

Sorry I couldn't provide you with actual numbers, it really is hard to judge another man's business while standing outside the door.

For those who like me wish not to wake up three hours after retiring but would rather spend 5000 on a new set of tires:

My missus girl from work went along to Imm at 6.30 sharp with my passport only.

6.31 missus phone went off saying "LINE!'

20 more LINE messages with me cursing under the covers covering head grumpily but missus happily texting and giving me minimum feedback.

The girl sent missus photo of queue and got number 50 something.

I gave up and started to read an Australian in China...A Quiet Journey through China to Burma by GEMorrison.

I had not realised until told the night before that one then has to swap the first number for a second number (go figure), and that docs may be checked then.

So I swore and prepared to leave to arrive about 8.15.

Just as I was ready to go missus friend called saying don't need to come I have the second number your appointment is about 14.45.

Perfect, time for return to Nod and later a lunchtime coffee with friends.

Arrived 1430 and seen half hour or so later.

Lucky it was late as I noted that missus hadn't done 90 day it was two months over and had to pay 2000, just got passport back from 90 day section in time for visa extension.

Went off to kill time pleasantly and locally, and returned 16.30 to pick up passport.

Long story short

Got visa.

Got great sleep with bonus reading time.

I think the missus is paying the girl 400 baht....everyone happy.

Office was busy but not heaving, seating for all and no queues for information....fairly civilised.

Obviously I will try to remember for an online appointment next year.

Glad it all worked out for you cheeryble

Yes the appointment works well if planned for.

Also put a memo in your cell phone to beep the week before each 90 day is due.

That is what I do or I would never remember them too.

2000 baht is a pretty stiff fine no?
