Apologies in advance if this subject has been covered but I looked and couldn't find information!

I have built a house in rural Isaan about 20 ams from Ban Dung. No find no internet connection though I was promised that there was. Mobile signal is also very poor. What options do I have for satellite? Any advise would be much appreciated!

Just to clarify:

Ipstar - satellite

Winet - essentially long distance WiFi

Winet (if it's available to you) will always be a better bet than ipstar, but it's not available everywhere. Check with the local TOT office

I live in the same area, I'm about 35km from Ban Dung.

I don't know if they still have IPstar but don't go near the thing. I had one for 5 years and cursed it just about daily. useless, overpriced and useless,

I've gone to a CAT wireless setup that costs me 800 baht per month for unlimited useage and reliable 2.5GB speed regardless of weather. Had it over a year now and service is very good.

There are also other wireless setups available lots of ads posted around. Get your missus to check with the locals

Attached is a picture of my setup, since moved from the garage to sitting behind my computer on the desktop.

Used as a wireless center for the house allowing me to use computer, phone and tablet

Even if you use your phone or a plug in dongle, DO NOT get an IPstar (useless, overpriced, useless, useless..........................)

Keep away from IpStar, thing of the 90s.

If all else (as described above) fails:

You write "Mobile signal is also very poor.".

It does not cost a fortune to mount a directional antenna to improve reception,

Looks similar to directional antennas for ToT WiFi or CAT.

But needs professional help for setting up.

Guess you will have AIS then?

How far from a major road do you live?

Have you seen any of these "strange cable circles" on a mast?:

These are fibre optic internet cables.

Fibre optic cables can easily be connected over multiple kilometers.

Depending on the distance it might cost a small fortune to get connected.
