About an hour ago when I opened my Note 8 I got a popup informing me that there is an update available. I'm downloading right now. It's 742.71MB. Does anyone know what version it is?

KitKat 4.4.2

It's been out for a few weeks here. I'm surprised you only just got it.

Good to know, thank you. Any improvements with this version? There should be.

Depends what you had before .. it's good to know Samsung are as slow as ever updating their units!

Nothing much that I've noticed, but mine always worked fine before anyway. Battery charge may last longer now.

Slow for you, but why, and compared to who/what.

Heck, get a no-name or little known brand and you may never get an OTA update...they may have update on their support website a person can download and flash but flashing firmware is beyond the typical owner.

I got KitKat on my Samsung S4 a month or two ago....like most updates and for basic everyday usage I didn't notice any differences. I'm sure there were minor improvements, bug fixes, etc., but in terms of how I use my phone daily it was a non-event. Incremental upgrades to operating systems/firmware like going from Jelly Bean to KitKat is mostly hype/minor improvements/bug fixes versus major improvements.
