Hello Viewers!

Sorry to trouble you all ....... But i have an Android phone ( Lenovo ) and i am running out of storage space! The largest app is of course " Facebook " which uses loads of memory! There is a way i can move it to the SD Card but i don't know how! Is there a simple way to shift it? I have tried several apps but none of them work very well!

Please keep your replies " simple " viewers! ( as i am a simple person... )

Thank you and God bless you all !

App2SD. But not all apps or devices are supported for moving.

Thankyou but i have tried that it it won't shift it! It seems the only way is to do a " factory reset " and shift all apps as a " Batch " in one move to the SD Card. All apps should be movable!

Thanks again.

What version of Lenovo phone to you have (Model and OS version)?

If the 'app' came pre-installed as a 'system app' (app is located in the 'system' area of firmware) then the phone will need to first be 'rooted' to give you the admin permissions necessary to make that change.

Besides issues with 'system' apps, Google also created issues with security improvements implemented starting with Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Notes from the opportunistic developers of "KitKat External SD Card Patch"

Google has modified the default permissions for the external SD Card on Android 4.4 KitKat, which directly caused many of your favorite third parity apps lose read/write access to external SD card and became useless. Problem you may have for third party apps after the KitKat Update:
* File Manager app can no longer create, move or edit files or folders on external sdcard
* Camera, Music or Video app can no longer save files to external sdcard or edit your media file saved on ecternal storage
* Previous paid or free app/game data saved on sdcard can no longer work or be accessed
* WiFi syncing to SD card is blocked
* Move apps to sdcard is blocked
You can also check the xda-developers forum website and see what members are saying about your issue there.

Go to general settings

Scroll down and click on apps or app management

Select facebook and if the option to move to SD card is highlighted in bold letters then click and move to SD

if there is no option to move then it's a pre installed app and can only be moved by rooting the phone.

Thank you.My phone is a Lenovo S920 with Android 4.2.1 and it did not come with Facebook pre installed but it still won't shift! Phone is OK it cost 6,000 baht & looks like a Samsung Note 3 and camera and screen are fab! But doesn't have much internal memory so I wanted to put " all my apps " on the SD Card........hmmmm

Finding lots of complaints about how the Lenovo S920 sets up and uses memory partitions.

None of the 'fixes' I've run across so far are simple.

Moving Your ‘Non-Movable’ Android Apps to an SD Card (Generic article, but found the following in the extensive comments)

Confirmed. It works on my Lenovo S920. Although I have to use "USB Storage" mode instead of "MTP" to make it discoverable by adb.
Popular application I am able to move after the tweak are such as:
Still unmovable after the tweak are such as:
BBM, Yahoo! Messenger.

Good to hear that Facebook and Twitter were able to be moved. I assume those did not ship as standard with the device? And for that matter, did BBM come included? Normally, the apps that can't be moved like that come pre-installed. Either way, glad you got most of them moved.

Other 'options' found searching the 'net either require rooting the phone and downloading an app to patch the firmware

...or replacing the Firmware with a similar one modified in Russia.

Also found KitKat firmware upgrades -- NO mention if either of these two firmware replacements allow you to move apps to SDCard memory. And remember, KK 4.4.+ may not allow file managers full access to all SDCard contents.

Instructions for installing a Chinese Lenovo S920 Upgrade Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 with Gapps + Root.

Official release Upgrade Lenovo S920 with Android KitKat ROW version.

//CAVEAT ::: Doing any of these thing can break your phone.
