BANGKOK: -- The Bank of Thailand (BOT) governor has agreed with the Ministry of Finance's decision to issue long-term bonds to cover debt worth Bt682 billion from the costly rice pledging scheme. But he said management of the amount of each offer and the spread between maturity dates should be done with care so it does not affect other government operations and market interest rates.

Garbage man declines donation from actress
The Sunday Nation

Actress Panadda "Boom" Wongphudee yesterday presented Bt50,000 to Bangkok garbage collector Surat Maneenopparatsuda at Saphan Sung District Office.
Boom also offered to take care of Surat's daughter, who was treated at a children's hospital for a facial tumour.

Suspected serial rapist arrested in Nakhon Si Thammarat

The police have arrested a suspected serial rapist nicknamed "Horny Ramba" in southern Thailand, a report said yesterday.

The 35-year-old suspect allegedly raped at least 10 women in his village in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

He allegedly threatened to kill them if they told police, according to the Daily News.

The most recent victim was a 17-year-old student.

NRC center for receiving public input on reforms and charter to open Monday

BANGKOK, 15 November 2014 (NNT) – The National Reform Council (NRC) will open a center to receive suggestions for the national reform process on Monday, at the front of Building One at Parliament.

NRC president Thienchay Kiranant is set to chair the opening ceremony for the center, on Monday, November 17, at 9.30 am. The center will receive inputs about national reform from the public, as well as input relating to the drafting of the charter. Members of the public can lodge their suggestions in person at the center. Officials at the center will compile the suggestions on a daily basis and present them to the subcommittee on public participation.

The center will be operated by the Secretariat of the House of Representatives and designated working groups.

NACC agrees to allow 3 out of 38 former senators facing impeachment to continue NLA/NRC roles

NLA to discuss more urgent draft laws during Nov 20-21

BANGKOK, 16 November 2014 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly is scheduled to hold a meeting to deliberate urgent draft laws later next week.

According to NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, the legislature will hold a meeting during November 20 and 21 to consider a number of urgent draft laws, including its own meeting.

Mr. Pornpetch said that all drafts have just been reviewed by the NLA special committee.

In addition, there will be 12 other drafts to be considered this time such as the law on ivory trade and the amended law on reserved and protected species.

Another issue all eyes are keeping on is the development at the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s resolution to impeach 38 former senators for their alleged involvement in the constitutional amendment.

PDRC to send representatives to discuss with CDC

BANGKOK: -- The People's Democratic Reform Committee will send five representatives to discuss charter writing with the Constitution Drafting Committee on November, 25, PDRC spokesman Akanat Promphan said.

He said he, Sathit Wongnongtoey, Tavorn Senneam, Samdin Lertbutr and Suriyasai Katasila would represent the PDRC in the discussion.
