BANGKOK, Nov 19 -- The Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) rose to 87.5 in October after falling in two previous months as product orders and operational results improved while automotive export declined.

Supant Mongkolsuthree, chair of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), said TISI rose to 87.5 from 86.1 in September as there were more orders for products, border trade grew and global oil prices were dropping.

However, operators were still concerned about the local economy.

They saw government spending and investment as a key to long-term economic stimulation and a boost for investment by the private sector.

TISI for the next three months rose to 105.7 from 104.7 in September.

Surapong Paisitpattanapong, spokesman for FTI Automotive Industry Club, said Thailand exported 93,413 completely built automobiles in October.

The amount dropped by 3.54 per cent year-on-year and fell for the third consecutive month as auto export to the Middle East, Africa and America fell in that period. The value of auto export stood at Bt43.97 billion, rising by 1.48 per cent year-on-year.

In the first 10 months of this year, auto export amounted to 932,365 units, decreasing by 1.25 per cent year-on-year.

The export value stood at 440.15 billion baht and rose by 3.08% year-on-year.

In October, Thailand produced 159,760 vehicles, falling by 13.7 per cent year-on-year due to the local economic slowdown. In the first ten months of this year (from January to October), the country produced 1,568,300 vehicles, dropping by 25.86 per cent year-on-year. (MCOT online news)
