asac69 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Hello everybody. I am moving into Samui next months for work and will be staying for a good 18 months. I live in Malaysia at the moment and I own a year and a half old Rav4. I was wondering if it is worth to try to import it with me or if it is better sell it and aqcuire a new one once in Thailand. Thank you for any advice on this. Cheers

Rooo Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 You can drive tha car in ,put up some guarantee or an amount at Thai customs on the border, but will have to drive the car back every 3 months. So if you have to go for visa run so will the car.
Beachedwhale Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 see http://www.thaivisa.com/car_malaysia_border.0.html I agree with Samui coconut .. sell and buy new, the process of gettting it legally in the country is not a good way to start your time in Thailand as it will only frustrate you and cost you ...
