BANGKOK: -- Surely we’ve heard this story before: Boy meets girl, chats her up on Line, steals her car and runs off to a monastery.

Rathana Chuthachan, 41, was arrested in Bangkok on Saturday for allegedly stealing a car from the woman he’d been wooing with cute stickers for the better part of a year.

After chatting up his unidentified lady friend for about six months on Line, the taxi driver built on those months of textual chemistry to gain access to the key to her Suzuki Swift, police said.

After he got the key, authorities said Rathana got a cousin to take the car away. The final phase of his sneaky plot was placing the key back in the victim’s room to rule out his involvement, police believe.

ok you pass with distinction!

"But don’t judge him too quickly. Under questioning Rathana admitted that he genuinely wanted the woman to be his girl, but financial desperation drove him to steal her car to fix his taxi. Truly a crime of passion."

Have to disagree coconuts, a crime of greed and stupidity would be a better fit than passion.

Ahhh, don't worry, it was just a Suzuki.

Sort of like a giant sewing machine * with wheels.

* = Suzuki started out making sewing machines

Is Coconuts a real news site? Aren't news sites supposed to unbiased? Coconuts is always adding their opinion.

So what! Ferruccio Lamborghini started out making tractors 60 years ago. Used to tow sowing machines no doubt.

That's the Vitara ( milk crate on wheels). The swift is a dangerously nippy little beast.

Swift, Jazz, Fiesta - great for pissing off huge 4x4s, and leaving them behind in sports mode. ;)

Thai people (and others) really need to put down there smart phones and raise their I.Q.'s by about 50 points. Line, twitter, face, etc are not reality.

Do all alleged car thieves have a 30 000 baht bounty placed on them? Where to go to read all the bounties offered?

Suzuki ended up making sewing machines and calling them transportation.

wonder what the average IQ is for a Thai? id love to see how they stack against other Asian countries?

A crime of passion my ass ! It was a crime of grand theft auto, and not a very good one at that.
