Buying a copy of Bangkok Post in Buriram (City)

Featured Replies

Hi guys, it's been a long time since I started a topic, but I need help one this one.

A good friend of mine is twiddling his thumbs in the large Gov hospital in Buriram and he his suffering from acute boredom (that isn't what he was admitted for)

Do any of you know the location of any shops within walking distance of the hospital that sell the Bangkok Post newspaper?

As I haven't got a clue.

In front of the railwaystation

Can't you give him a laptop, if there';s no wireless, a cheap USB wireless stick and he can read the Bangkok Post online, watch movies, listen to music and so on....

Just saying....

P.S. That's what friends are for, right?

Ok, I have spare laptops coming out of my ears, hasn't everyone.

I'll tell him about the train station, thank you Daniel.

by crikey I haven't bought a paper copy of the Post forever like

Just get him online.

Then he can read more important news like news from his own country that each article will make sense.

Regards

I'm pretty sure that you can "rent" one from a computer shop/ friend, etc..

If it were a friend of mine, I'd give him mine for the time he's hospitalised.

Why not some good books?

Okay, seems that you don't have "spare books" coming out of your ears either. Sorry for bothering you. Just trying to use common sense.

I don't have a laptop, full-stop, no one I know has.

So Mr lostinisaan, you don't know where he can buy a newspaper, you are pretty sure he can rent a laptop, but you don't any details of where that may be.

This thread is serving as a fine example of why I no longer read the Isaan Forum, and especially why I don't start topics.

Thaddeus.

Try the 7/11 directly across the road from the Hospitals ambulance entry point.

Or possibly the Tesco store just over the railway line.

Failing that, PM me old mates Ward / Room number and I will ensure a copy of the BP will find its way to him.

How about a low cost android tablet. A couple of thousand baht will get one,

Then load some apps on it. Bangkok post has one.

He could also use it as a night light if he cannot cope with its full potential ( sorry Thad, couldn't resist)

The BP has a pretty decent mobile site which is good to read on a smartphone. Now if he doesn't have a smartphone......Oh Jeez time to move into the 21st century

Mr. Thaddeus, it was not in my intention that Ikarus is suffering of boredom any longer.

I live 165 km away from Buri Ram and haven't been there for years.

But a few trips to some shops and i would find something to make my friend feel better.

You started a thread, I thought it was useful to mention something that's really time killing, when hospitalised.

I went through that being hospitalised in Isaan, and a friend gave me his notebook for two weeks, as mine was out of order.

I hope your friend will read this thread, as you're obviously done with people trying to give you some advice.

I'm pretty sure that somebody who's working at the hospital would be able to find a solution.

I'm sorry LostinIssan, but I cannot find anywhere where you have given advice that is a direct answer to the OP's question.

As you live sooooo far away you are probably also unaware that the wifi at Buriram hospital is notorisously slow.

As you do not know the sick gentleman personnaly you also probably don't know if he is computer literate.

Thad......there is a shop not far from the clock tower that sells BP. From the hospital travel to the clock and turn right. About 200 yards on the right you will see a newsagent/stationers on the corner of a side street on the right. Thay have BP.

Yep, just past the main CAT office.

My friend has been discharged now, but handy to know if he ever gets re-admitted, fingers crossed that he doesn't.

Thanks to the few who actually answered a very simple question, instead of procrastinating their opinions, which was neither requested, required or helpful.

OP has his answer.
